3D printing is a process that allows manufacturers in any part of the world to use computerized technology to design, build, and print a product. This is a welcome change for foreign manufacturers who are looking to bypass a difficult import processes by simply transmitting their designs to 3D printers in the United States But from the perspective of industrial and logistics-centric real estate professionals, 3D printing is a legitimate threat to classic supply chain management and the real estate that supports it.
As Whitebox Real Estate co-founder Grant Pruitt put it, "The biggest disruption is going to be in the demand for industrial space, and I venture [there will be] a lack of demand in some of the traditional markets on the coast”. Read the full story here.

On the outskirts of the Houston area, an east Montgomery County industrial park recently received a $1.5M grant to construct a new 30,000 SF office building. In Grapevine, developer NewcrestImage is building an 80K SF office building, and in Plano, plans were recently announced for Granite Park Six, an 18-story, 415K SF office tower within the 90-acre mixed-use Granite Park development.

Redwood Software officially leased a 8,000-square-foot office in Frisco’s tallest office building, located in the Hall Park office campus that is home to a total of 2.5 million SF of space in 17 buildings. Meanwhile, California-based Bluebeam Inc. has leased 20,000 SF of space in the One McKinney office tower in Uptown Dallas.
